It’s time to bid adieu to another season of Downton Abbey (sniff!), but at least we get to do it with a metric tonne of diamonds, sparkles, and feathers! Rose is officially being presented, and we expect her to have some top-notch Prince-of-Wales-adjacent shenanigans next season.

We’re happy to see Mama Levinson back in England for the affair, and just as brash ‘n sassy as the first time around! This time she also has the infamous Harold in tow. We’re not sure how plausible it is that he’d click with such a bright young thing as Madeline, but we’ll accept any story while he’s here just so long as he takes Ivy when he goes!

Also returning for the parties: Sampson the card sharp, with new schemes to give Lord Grantham a heart attack! Will the Crawley gang be able to recover yet another potentially life-altering letter and save the dignity of the crown?!

While the rest of the family deals with in-laws and scofflaws, poor Edith mourns the baby she left behind in Switzerland–and hopes to get her back. #TeamEdith is always glad to see her take matters of her happiness into her own hands, but worry that, as usual, her plans may not go as well as she hopes.

Downstairs, it’s a whirlwind of work to do, but there’s still time for a flirtation for Daisy (yay!), a revelation about Bates (ugh!), and a delightful trip to the seaside for all (whee!).

Ask your new English cook to hurry up with that fish pudding, and join us for a grand finale on Downton Gabby

Season 4 Premiere: LEAN IN, MARY!

Another season at the Abbey begins! The damsels are concerned for poor Mary after Matthew’s death (although we secretly think she looks fab in black). We’re glad most of the family is all #TeamMary for her to share in running the estate, but we must roll our eyes at yet another letter from beyond the grave.

Over on #TeamEdith, we love the dramatic head scarves but worry about her social activities with Mr. Editor. Should she have a chat with Rose about taking certain lady-precautions during an affair? Scandalous!

Meanwhile, Molesley’s on a chain gang, Mrs. Hughes is up to some classic meddling, Mrs. Patmore’s Mixer of the Future might be out to get her, and much much more on this packed premiere!

It’s hotter than a Tart’s Boudoir! Take a break from practicing your one-step and join us for a great new season at Downton!

"I feel like I learned what I needed to learn. This season is going a lot more smoothly for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that we know what the episodes will bear and how much we can pack into each one and what our pace will be. I don’t know what I could say that I could have done differently, but I did learn a lot."

We all agree that Vincent Kartheiser is a great actor, but is he pulling off the tights as Mr. Darcy at the Guthrie in Minnepolis? Wish we could see for ourselves!

Damsels in Discussion - You're Gonna Make It After All

Goin’ back to Cali? No, we don’t think so. More like Philly. In the season finale of both Mad Men and of our podcast, the Damsels discuss the long decline of Don Draper that no amount of LA sunshine will ever turn around. We bid goodbye to our favorite womanizing alcoholic father-of-the-year, as well as some of our other favorites from Season 6.

Goodbye Peggy’s no-good boyfriends, but hello PANTSUITS!

Goodbye Ted and his turtlenecks

Goodbye budding bromance (Not good, Bob!)

Goodbye LSD trips, office tokes and speed injections

Goodbye Mrs. Campbell. You always loved the sea.

Goodbye Matt Weiner’s cluelessness about his female characters

Goodbye Sally’s innocence, at least where her father is concerned, but how about hello Emmy nomination?

We’ll miss you Joan, Peggy, Betty and Megan, but Sylvia…not so much.

We make some fearless predictions about how it will all end next season, and we’re feeling hopeful they’re all gonna make it after all. Well, except Bert Cooper, who’s not looking so healthy.

So put on your plaid pantsuit, grab a Hershey bar, have a drink - you can’t stop cold like that! Join us for this final podcast of the season & have a great summer.

"It seems like the argument of the show this season is: Can anyone change or do you just keep making the same mistakes? For Peggy, that’s definitely her story this year. She thought she got out. She thought she had changed and was this new person with this new boss and then got dragged back into an even worse position… And it becomes worse than she imagined, thanks to the idiocy of the men." - Elisabeth Moss
Lots of good stuff in this LA Times interview with the Matthew Weiner and the actresses of Mad Men. We can’t wait for Sunday’s finale!

Damsels in Discussion - Dick In A Box

PODCAST 12: DICK IN A BOX

Still depressed from the worst wedding ever (no cake, just death!), the damsels dig into the Game of Thrones finale. The horror continues for the Starks, which brings out Arya’s inner assassin. The damsels can’t enough lady vengeance, which is why they loved the thoughtful gift sent to Asha. A dick in a box — every girl’s favorite gift!

Ygritte proved that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned — who is also a badass at archery. Although, we all wish Dany’s Mother Teresa spin off series would end so she could join the main action. Until then, our fingers are crossed that Bran gets picked for Gryffindor!

At 20:58, we switch to analyzing the latest episode of Mad Men where we finally get MORE SALLY! Unfortunately, we also got more Sylvia and Don. A different sort of dick in a box… Moving on to the lighter aspects of the episode, we just wish Pete would let his mom have her imagined orgasms! Also, Bob Benson is Gay! But then again, everyone already guessed that. We are hoping to see more of Joan and her new Avon account in the final two episodes!

So, tell your overbearing grandfather that you aren’t tired, throw out the nightshade and add some whiskey while you curl up with our latest podcast!

Admit it…you were all thinking it too. Theon Greyjoy “Dick In A Box”

Q: What are your thoughts on Game of Thrones?! They’ve got a lot of virginity references!

A: That culture is SO patriarchal so of course attitudes about male and female virginity are pretty predictable.

Jon Snow and Podrick follow a common trope of the tender young lad being schooled in the ways of love by a more experienced woman. It was pretty hilarious that they were both genius love-makers right out of the gate (didn’t Snow invent cunnilingus?)

The women are of course totally solied and useless if they’ve had sex outside of marriage. But the virgin we really love to talk about is Brienne, who seems to get a lot of power from her ‘purity’ that really has nothing to do with sex. Partly being unattached, she’s free from the influences of a husband. And her moral purity gives her strength, sort of like Joan of Arc.

ASK ME ANYTHINGL #IAmA Virginity Expert!
